TRIDAS MUKHOPADHYAY is Deloitte Consulting Professor of E-Business at the Tepper
School of Business, Carnegie Mellon University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer
and Information Systems from the University of Michigan in 1987. His research
interests include business value of information technology, e-business, and software
development productivity. His recent papers on e-business examine competition
between
Internet search engines, adoption of Web procurement, and models of electronic
intermediation. His other research projects study the productivity and quality
of software products and offshore software contracts. His papers have appeared
in Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Communications
of the ACM, Journal of Manufacturing and Operations Management, Journal of Marketing
