Dr. Soundar Kumara is a Professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
at Penn State. He also holds a joint appointment with the Computer Science and
Engineering department. Dr. Kumara obtained his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, India; M/Tech in Industrial Engineering
from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India; and Ph.D., from Purdue University,
USA. He held CSK Chair Visiting Associate Professor position at the Research Center
for Advanced Science and Technology, University of Tokyo, Japan and Visiting Associate
Professor, Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge,
MA, USA. His research interests are in Multiagent systems in Logistics and Manufacturing,
Sensor based process monitoring and Chaos theory based process modeling. Dr. Kumara
is an active member of CIRP.
